Bad news I'm afraid. It is cancer - grade 3 and already 19mm. They said it is fast growing and aggressive.
They have scheduled me in for an op to remove the lump plus all my lymph nodes on the 3rd december, but they dont' know as to whether it has spread or not.
They say the normal cut off point for increased risk of spreading is 20mm and it is already 19mm but they said that it could be bigger.
I genuinely don't know what to do. They said it was very unusual for someone of my age and no family history to get this, but they said that it would be rare for it to have spread at this point. However because it is "unusual" in the first instance I can't help thinking that in that case it must have spread.
Especially since I have had loads of weird symptoms for the past few months that the doctors couldn't pin point.
I have then got to have 7 months of chemo after the op and then radiotherapy.
They can't tell me what my chances are until after the op.
I also can't help thinking that if it is fast growing and grown this much already this quickly then waiting another 2 and a half weeks for the op is only going to cause more problems?
To say I am gutted is an understatement. I had a bad feeling about this from the off, but I guess you always hope that your instincts are wrong on thigns like this. I just hope that the fear I have about it spreading doesn't turn out to be correct as well.
I spent most of last night and today in tears and am finding it very hard to get a grip of anything at the moment. The thought of leaving my little boy (21 months) is breaking my heart. I am thinking am I going to be here by Christmas and all sorts of things.
I know I should be tryign to think positive, but I am finding that impossible at the moment, and don't know where to turn.
It all just doesn't seem real, but I know it is.
xx
