Please let me know if anyone has experienced this problem. I have had bloody nipple discharge, non-spontaneous, for about 2 months. Mamogram was clear, magnified ductalgram was clear, ultrasound showed the usual benign cysts with which I am always plagued. I had a couple of them aspirated a month before the bloody discharge appeared: have wondered if there is a connection but docs say 'unlikely'.

The issue now is: Should I undergo exploratory surgery. There are no palpable lumps, I am 33, and there is no history of breast cancer in my family. I have systemic lupus (inactive) and would hate to have an unnecessary surgery reactivate it. I was simply wondering if anyone else ever had this problem without there being a finding on all these tests: no papiloma, ectasia, no mass, no nothing, no calcifications even. Nothing except bloody discharge. Please let me know if you have any experiences or suggestions that might help

and responding.

go to www.ductallavage.com From what I understand: Dr. Susan Love 'invented' this procedure to 'wash' the breast ducts with a fluid that allows collection of duct cells for pathology to examine. It is fairly new. Only some centers have trained personnel for this procedure.

Your bloody discharge must surely be exiting out the nipple through ducts. It seems this test would be one I'd travel to get if I had similar symptoms, etc. as you have. Just my thoughts...but wishing you much luck.
