I have suffered with severe breast pain for the last 20 years or so, not related to my menstrual cycle or any sort of cancer. My doc said my right breast tissue was intolerant of my own hormones. 10 years ago I had a lot, most, of my right breast removed,it had grown so much, it was past my waist, the other breast was a normal 34c. I have had a few bouts of pain since, but these last 2 or 3 weeks it has come back, and how. The nipple goes black and seems to twist. It is not just discomfort, it is absolute agony.I cannot go through this pain again for so long, has anyone else gone through this with any reasonable explaination from the medical profession. I am 56, still having periods, had the coil fitted 2 years ago to stop them.Help,I need some explaination. If I know why then half the battle is won.

Rusky123 welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

I am afraid you suffer from a very rare "disease" - there isn't that much known about the underlying cause of these pains. In practically all medical articles about this the option "not-known" is always present.

Your doctor says it is because your breast tissue is intolerant with your own hormones. Couldn't you ask him further about this and also if hormone treatment perhaps could help in your case?

Thank you for your welcome Hamsa I am in pain at the moment although it has lessened a little today. I just wish I know what the reason was. Why is my right breast intolerant and my left not?. So many questions, and no real answers. Doc was giving me morphine tablets, 12 at a time, a very rare thing here in the UK,that was after I was put on HUGE doses of primrose oil. I was grateful for the morphine but just wanted to know what was wrong. If you could tell me of another case history like mine I could go armed to my doctor with it. I have had the merina coil with testosterone fitted, it has stopped my menstrual cycle, although I get a slightly sore right breast now and again. Gone on too long, thanks for you support.

I wish I could, Rusky, bring another case the same as yourself to show from the internet but I can't since -like I wrote- all explanations have the "unknown cause" factor included so they are covered.

I really hope this will end soon for you. Morphine isn't very healthy to take long term and the cause has to be discovered in order to heal you from it.

I will be keeping my eyes open though searching the internet and if there is anything that I can come up with will let you know immediately since this must be horrible, having these pains.
