"Best Hospital" Rating Systems = Bogus?
From what I`ve seen & experienced, it can be very dangerous to go to the charity-type hospitals, in the money-poor states such as Texas & Louisiana.
For some reason, the charity hospitals can get good ratings in "Best Hospital" surveys, when these hospitals are very obviously Not the best.
This might be in part, because these surveys require hospitals to have an affiliation with a medical school, in order to qualify.
Every poem can be considered in two ways--as what the poet has to say, and as a thing which he makes.

Su, some of these hospital have the best of physicians and deal with more trauma than usual and, thus, have more experience in some areas. My aunt was dx`d with breast cancer 22 years ago when she was on welfare. She was treated at a city hospital. One of her physicians, who treats her to this day, went on to become chief of hematology/oncology at a major hospital in N.Y. city. As I said she was dx`d and treated for b.c. 22 years ago. She is the only one of my mother`s relatives who have survived. And she did go on to have a recurrence on the other side as well as develop a second type of cancer--lung cancer. She is STILL alive and is now in her late 60`s.
Ability is nothing without opportunity.

I used to work at Ben Taub - the county charity hospital in Houston. The same doctors that practiced at the more elite hospitals in the Texas Medical Center: Methodist, St. Luke`s, Hermann also practiced at Ben Taub.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Charity Hospitals: Can`t Refuse Or Cancel Appointments?
When I was at the LSU Breast Clinic in Shreveport in April/May 2003 [concerning the botched mastectomy at Methodist/Baylor in Houston, & the resulting infections], the LSU medical students/doctors made an appt for me to come back. ???
I said that I did not want the appt, & that I`d finish getting the infections treated locally. They made the appt anyway, & said that I could not cancel it.
They`d assured me that the infections were healing OK, & that the treatment I was getting locally was good. So there was no reason for me to make the long drive to Shreveport again.
So far, I haven`t checked with my insurance, to see if LSU charged for this second appt.
Has anyone else had similar experiences?

trauma center and that`s where their best efforts will go. My father-in-law got excellent cancer treatment at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
You are not permitted to kill a woman who has wronged you, but nothing forbids you to reflect that she is growing older every minute. You are avenged 1440 times a day.
