Is there a "set" time that they must wait to do our radiation treatments after we are done with Chemo? Is it the same for everyone or does it depend on what type of Chem we get and for how long? I ask this because my oncologist said today I must wait 2 weeks after my last Chemo treatment to start radiation and a friend seems to think it must be 4 weeks because that is what she had to wait. I am due to go get
"marked" Thanksgiving week so doesn't that mean they plan on doing radiation at some time following that? My "marking" will be 2 weeks following what I was told was my last Chemo. I was just wondering what it was for most of you with your experiences. Thanks!

The radiation oncologist I saw wanted to start radiation treatments within 6-8 weeks after the last chemo.

Seems like mine was 4 weeks, but I don't remember any pressure to make it sooner or later, but then its been 2 years and I can't remember yesterday -((

My 'marking' as you state (we called it tattoo!) was just days before beginning treatments, and treatments were EVERY day. Only day we missed was if the radiation machine was down.
We played puzzles, chatted, ate cookies if we had to wait a few minutes, which wasn't often, treatment took <10 minutes, the dressed again and left for home. Totally painless, harmless except for time interruption, but at that time I was unemployed, it made a nice diversion meeting friends there...

The 'tattoo' is just a half-dozen or so pencil mark sized dots marking the 'corners' of the area where they have to line up the machine to get the best coverage while missing the major organs. It takes quite a bit longer than the treatments, so don't think they'll all take as long as the first one!
Again, painless, kind of interesting. Every once in awhile I see one of my tattoo marks and think it's a tiny blackhead - how soon we forget!

Don't worry, radiation is definitely the least worrisome of what you've been thru.

I am not certain, but I had my first radiation treatment 23 days after my last chemo. I did read somewhere that they like you to have it within a certain time after you have had surgery--but am not certain of that time (only thing that comes to mind is 6 mos. but not sure if that is correct).
