i have fluid surrounding both lungs, but worse on the right lung. I have an appointment to visit with a surgeon about a pleurodesis procedure, draining the fluid. The oncologist's office set up the appointment and say it's about two days in the hospital.
Anyone have this done? Is there a long recovery time from the procedure?
Help your breathing, coughing? There was a mention of talc. I'm scared, looking for calming influences.

The breast cancer found in 96, spread in 99 to my lungs and bones. Last year spots were found on my liver, gratefully, there have been no symptoms from the liver yet.
Alexandra, thanks for your reply also.
Talc is one option, usually when the fluid production is very strong or resistant to other options. If you have not had this done yet ask the surgeon /onc about trying other pleurodesis substances such as injectable vibramycin or chemotherapy first. I have not used talc but
I've read reports about the chest getting painful over time on the side that its used. Less water in the chest always makes breathing easier, esp. if you try to live an active life. What is your primary tumor?
