my sister just had a double mastectomy - 7 years ago she had cancer in her right breast and underwent a lumpectomy and chemo and radiation - now found cancer in right breast, so she underwent double mastectomy. Why does she have a radiation burn on the right side immediately after mastectomy when the radiation was given over 7 years ago?

Hello, Welcome to this site. I read your question, and am not really sure about the time frame. Was 7 years ago the ONLY radiation that she had? Is it a fresh/red burn, or just damage from the prior radiation 7 years ago? No matter how careful the Radiologist was, there often is residual skin damage from radiation treatments. This is why many have problems with reconstruction later.
She needs to discuss this with her doctor. This is the type of question that only a doctor with her complete (prior) medical records can answer.
