Q- My mother aged 55 had surgery(Mastectomy) on 2nd April 2008 in AIIMS, Delhi. The Histopathology Report is as follows--- Specimen of right modified radical mastectomy measuring 20*12*3cm. On cut section a tumor is identified in central and lower inner quadrant measuring 5.5*3.5*3cm. Sections examined shows features of invasive ductal carcinoma with medullary features (Nottingham's modification of Bloom Richardson Grading). There are focal areas of necrosis overlying skin, nipple and aerola and deep resected margin are free of tumor, lymphnodes from the specimen(0/24) are free of tumor. Specimen sent separately as apical tissue (0/5), Level I and II lymphnodes (0/1) and lymphnodes near latissumus dersi (0/1) are all free of tumor. Specimen sent separately as skin margin is free of tumor.
Pathological stage- T3 NO Mx (with limitation of Mx)
II B
Harmonal Status:- Estrogen Receptor: Negative
Progesterone Receptor: Negative
HER2/neu : Positive (3+)
Could you please tell me the stage of the cancer and what are the survival chances precisely and what line of action of treatments should be. Kindly answer my query ASAP. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Manish62668,welcome to the forum.

I cannot decipher this, since this is a medical report that has to be explained by your physician. It would be terribly unwise for anyone to tell you what it means who is not PROFESSIONAL.

I am terribly sorry and I understand you must be frantic, however - try to convince your physician to answer you asap and sincerely.

To my unprofessional eye it seems that the tumor was taken out and there are no 'grains' left which indicates total recovery. BUT AGAIN: this is what I THINK. Consult your physician
