question for when you stop taking Tamoxifen. Do you just stop taking it or was it gradually. Anything else happen beside your period starting back up. I have been on it for 5 years (in February 2010) and my doctor told me last visit I will be done and will not have to take any other drug. Just trying to find out what will happen.

Hello. If I was you, I would just call the doctor's office, and ask his staff. You will probably get an answer quickly. Never underestimate how great the cancer care staffs are. Their compassion and caring is deep, and they are there to help.
When you get your answer, come back and share it for those who follow after you in treatment. Become a link in our chain of sharing Thank you.

When I stopped taking Tamoxifen there was no other offer of medication. The consultants were undecided if I should start ZOLADEX injections but they decided not to in the end because I was just 35 years old when I finished Tamoxifen.

How I felt when I stopped taking Tamoxifen was the worst anxiety I have ever experienced. It was the thought of carrying on life without the safety net, no back up because you feel you had Tamoxifen there to save you. 14 months on and I am ok, but there are moments when you get a pain or a niggle somewhere in your body and you freak out because you think the worst.
I just have to learn to push these feelings to the back because worrying makes it worse. Have to be positive 24/7, cos once you slip one negative thought in, it takes over.
Have to learn to get to know your body and be vigilant about yourself.
As long as you eat healthy and stay fit, your chances of survival is a better one.
