This site collects gently used wigs to give to survivors who need them. If your wig is just being stored - send it on to continue it's good work. It feels good to help other BC sisters. Ant it is nice to spread the love.

StarWish and Friends,
Do be careful when some says they will help you get a wig. When I was bald my friend told me she was going to help me get a wig. We went to the store and I picked one out(the lowest price) and I ended up paying. And it was 300.00 plus tax. I ended up putting it on my card. Take care and thanks again Starwish624

There are/were cheaper wigs. Once you realized you HAD to pay I would have selected a more reasonably priced one. My wife (she has alopecia) need to buy wigs every 4-6 months and yes there are 200 300 and even 600 dollar wigs at the store but there are also 35 and 75 dollar ones. She has found some very nice ones for @75 that lat @6 months.
Just because someone says they will help you doesn't mean you should get a real expensive wig. I help my wife financially all the time but I draw the line at expensive wigs that need frequent replacement and are not covered by our insurance.

There are groups that offer free, gently worn, wigs for cancer survivors, like this:
http://www.orgsites.com/pa/wigs/

There are also groups who offer free hats, such as this:
http://www.heavenlyhats.com/

If you know of any other sources, please share it here.

Also, the local cancer center, or Oncologists in your area may know of some other sources (but, you need to ask).

There are a LOT of kind, caring folks who want to help. Just reach out. And don't forget to let us know.
