Hello,
My friend has breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy at the end of June. The MRI report just before surgery noted a 'mass-lesion' of about 2.5 mm and a "separate" node of about 1.6 mm. I hope this makes sense; it is all new to me (and her.) My friend only requested a copy of the MRI report after the surgery (at the follow-up office visit.)

What is the explanation of a mass-lesion vs. a node?

As far as we know, the doctor was surprised by the 2nd lump, but there is this notation in the MRI report. Did the doctor not review the report sufficiently? Surgery took 2 hrs., was expected to be 1 hour. 12 lymph nodes were also removed.

Thanks for any and all help. God bless.

Glo0506, welcome to the forum

Well, as far as I know when an infection is suspected one looks at a mass-lesion. A node would be more indicative of cancer cells.

Perhaps other members can deliberate based on their own experiences, I hope they will see this posting.
