I came across your site while looking up info on weight gain while taking tamoxifen. I don't care what the experts say I have definitely found it impossible to shift extra pounds gained after my diagnosis. I do not eat or drink more and I try to take regular exercise but to no avail. I had a mastectomy three years ago but no chemo. Perhaps menopause is to blame. I am 53, however I find it really upsetting since my consultant told me not to gain weight. One thing I became aware of reading the entries on your site was the differences between treatment in the UK and the USA. I feel really lucky that I was in hospital for 5 days after my op and cannot imagine trying to cope with the bleeding and pain at home after 24 hours!I'd welcome any feedback.

PopsyM welcome to the forum I hope you will find it of assistance.

There are medicines that cause weight gain and nothing can be done against that. Are you on any medicine?

I know what you mean. 24 hours for such a major surgery is just ridiculous. I don't really know what the world has come to when something like this can be approved.

For what it's worth, if you don't eliminate wheat and carbs from your diet after taking tamoxifen, they won't be able to shove you through a door in a year or so. I know. I went through it. Drs all told me I was crazy, there was no link between the drug and the weight gain... or that I was eating too much. Well, after grabbing my oncologist by the throat and making him listen to me, I worked with a dietician sufficiently to discover that wheat and pastas were the culprits. I stopped eating wheat products and the weight started coming off immediately. Bummer news to hear about no wheat, but it should work for you! Good luck.
