Eight months after a mastectomy and chemo I started back playing golf and experienced shoulder/arm pain, tingling up and down my arm and numbness in my hand......I went to a hand/shoulder doctor and he could find nothing except a weakness in my arm......he suggested physical therapy three tmes a week; arm/shoulder mssages, stretching exercises, weights, etc. and they all helped tremdously.....I now do them at home to strengthen that arm......

This may not be the solution to your problem, but hopefully it helps....and I am back playing golf......

Hi Numera. I experienced pain in my shoulder and back for some time after a lumpectomy and total node removal. I put it down to the position of the arm during surgery. The pain went of its own accord after some time and yes the exercises are important.

Hi numera, welcome to the group where everyone would rather 'not' be. I am sorry to hear of the discomfort you are having. I don't have any answers but maybe someone else hear may have had a similar experience. Currently, I am experiencing upper arm and shoulder pain that would not be directly related to recent surgeries I had in those areas. Take care and hoi numera, welcome to the group where everyone would rather 'not' be. I am sorry to hear of the discomfort you are having. Could it be from swelling in the area ? I read that many times that there is edema from the surgery itself. They told me when I have surgery and they remove the nodes that I will have to avoid activities such as blood pressure cuff etc. on the left arm.
