Wigs and hair loss

I start Chemo next week and I know that I will start losingmy hair soon after that. How soon will I be able to start wearing a wig to work? Right away or will there be sensitivity for awhile?

Welcome suchi-kitty, When I had my high chemo and lost all my hair, My head was sensitive for awhile and I nothing and wore hats, My friend took me to get a wig and it hurt and scratched my bald head. I still wear the warm soft fur like hats. I wish you the best, And know you will be a winner when you are done. I was light brown and after chemo came in black and white. So. please define "awhile". Is it days, months?? I'm an accountant and I tend to quantify things. I'm scheduled for 4 treatments within 3 months. Do you think I even need to boether with the purchase of a wig or should I just save my $$$ and use hats?

suchi_kitty, I would see if it would bother you, If you feel you would feel better with it on, I would go and see, You could buy hats and then if the if you dont like it go and try a wig. They do sell hats at some cancer places on line that have hair on the side. Myself I felt fine without anyhair and I went to my hairdresser to have her put moisturer on it and it help threw the chemo.
