Words Of Wisdom

I am sure that we have all heard quotes, or someone we know who has said something, that has left a lasting impression. There is great wisdom to partake of. Share those special sayings (passed down in your family, or an elder said it) which guide your life, or bring you back to 'center'. Sometimes, a saying can help to get you through hard times. (Some sayings just bring a smile to your face when you need it most.)
Here's one from me that my father said:

"Be careful what you do, because there is going to be somebody, who knows somebody, who knows what you did. It's a small world."

Boy, is this true! When I was a teenager, My Air Force family was stationed in North Africa. While there, I dated a G.I.
Five years later, while working in a store in Scranton, PA, I met another employee. She was the MOTHER of the G. I. that I had dated in Africa. Small world!

Thanks star for the reminder of things we heard. I remember hearing from my grandmother , May my word be tender and sweet cause tomorrow I might have to eat them. And sometimes that was so true!

This really works, no kidding. My mother told me about this:

If unexpected guests are going to be coming by shortly. While you are quickly straightening up, you don't have to worry about if your house has 'odors' and doesn't smell fresh (cat box, no time to vacuum/dust, etc.). Just make some popcorn, and 'accidently' burn it. The smell of the burned popcorn fills the house.

I tried this once when I was having a blind friend visit. I knew that his sense of smell was superior to mind - but the burned popcorn even worked on him. He never guessed.
